Look who made it to the gym - RHETT!

For those who wanted to know if I was still working out, the trainers at the Crossfit gym where FJ and I work out took this picture yesterday. Depending on your knowledge of a backsquat, this either looks much more impressive or much less impressive than it truly is. We have been doing some strength training at the gym which means we start with some basic lifting and go for max weight and then we do a short cardio burst or metcon (metabollic conditioning maybe?). Yesterday, we did back squats followed by a 12 minute metcon that I will just vaguely say was not fun and left me completely sore and sweaty! Obviously, I can't do quite as much as I used to do as far as weight or range of motion, but I also can't "max out" anymore. I go to a point where I feel challenged, but I can't really go all out.
Yesterday as I was doing my back squats and doing much less than what I would have done 6 months ago, one of the trainers/owners went up to FJ and commented at how great I was doing and then they both told me. This made me feel awesome! The people at Crossfit North Fulton (as well as at Crossfit Peachtree which is where I began my CF journey and still consider a second home) are so supportive and almost everyday, someone tells me how badass or awesome it is that I am even in there. I am surprised at how much that helps given that I feel like a large piece of laziness in the gym since I can't do quite as much as I used to!
As far as the other part of "fitness" is concerned - I continue to wage war against to the new infestation of the terrible monster I refer to as "Sweet Tooth". I am not winning, but I am not losing. ST came on strong and caught me by surprise. Combined with the opening of a confectionary called Scoops with every sweet treat known to man (old fashioned candy, ice cream, fudge, cup cakes, truffles, candy by the pound, and so on), the quick attack by ST was a recipe for disaster. I had a sweet treat (or two) every day for about a month. I haven't cut it entirely out, but it's managed at this point.
We've also gone back to limiting starches/complex carbs and doing menus each week including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I even got a little white board to keep track of what we were having each day and what prep work might need to be done that week. Last night was steak with zucchini, squash and red onions (and basil, lemon and garlic). Tonight is pork tenderloin (marinated in ground mustard, honey, fresh thyme, garlic and lemon), broccoli and a spinach salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Tomorrow we are having meatballs with spaghetti squash and Thursday is stuffed chicken. I have no clue what the sides are for Thursday, but it's on the board which resembles my much loved spreadsheets!
I'm pretty boring this week. We are headed to Athens on Friday night to celebrate some good friends' birthdays and to tailgate on Saturday morning for the game. We also have another birthday/housewarming on Saturday so it'll be another busy weekend! Next weekend is the anniversary party for my in laws (who are right now on the cruise that FJ and I weren't able to go on anymore) and then the following weekend is the wedding of two good friends, Curt and Ashley. We slow down a bit after that and I'm thankful for the change of pace, but we all know I love going and going!

Welcome Fall!

What an awesome way to begin fall. Our Labor Day weekend was so much fun. We packed in so much but had a blast doing it. I think we had perfect timing because I can tell my energy is starting to drop so I'm not sure how much fun I would have been if this had been a month later! ha ha!
Here are some pics from 24 weeks! These were taken last week. I've been terrible about keeping up with taking pictures, so I'm trying to get better. We also have some lake pictures, but I think I was pretty successful at staying behind the camera for that adventure.
Our weekend started off Friday night as we went to FJ's parents' house to celebrate Joani's birthday (a week late). We grilled burgers and hot dogs and FJ used a new technique to fry up some onion rings. I also brought buffalo chicken dip upon request. If you start keeping count, this will be buffalo chicken dip #1 of 3 for the weekend and the dip count was at a total of 4. Dinner was great and I even managed to sneak in one of the Whole Foods mini cakes "for" Joani.
Saturday Jill came out and Jill, Liz, FJ and I went to a friend's house to watch the UGA game. Truth be told, they all helped me get the invitations out for Joani and Mark's anniversary party, too. We had some great food and beverages (water for this girl) and kind of grazed all day. Buffalo Chicken Dip #2 made an appearance, though shortlived before it was devoured. We also picked up some bratwurst tips, too. Can't wait to break those out.
Saturday evening, FJ went to a fantasy football draft with some neighbors and I went across the street to one of their houses to meet "the wives". It was actually a ton of fun. I didn't realize we had so many people so close to our age in our neighborhood. Some have young children, some don't so it's a great mix. I sent FJ with Buffalo Chicken Dip (#3) and I took my Mexican Layer Dip across the street (Dip #4). I came home and stayed up talking to Jill and catching up.
Sunday we loaded up and went to the lake for Sunday Funday on the Grady family's boat, Yeah, Baby! As always, it was an absolute blast! It's always an adventure. It was Liz's birthday weekend, so we had fun celebrating that and had a really great crew of folks on the boat. We tied up with some friends and had some dance parties, too, of course!
Yesterday, I ran some errands while FJ did some yard work (we were battling it out to see whow as going to mow the yard...I'm pretty stubborn but I've got nothing on an only child so I was very pleased to win that battle!). Then I did the food prep/menu for the week and we went to our neighborhood pool with some of our new neighbor friends. We came home and I finished up the food prep, we ate dinner and just relaxed a little bit!
It was a terrific weekend and just what the doctor ordered. We have a few more exciting weekends coming up, but overall, things are starting to slow down a little. We have an engagement party this weekend for some good friends who are getting married in May. Then we travel to Athens for a birthday party/game day the weekend of teh 18th. After that is Joani and Mark's 20th anniversary party and then Curt and Ashley's wedding in Douglas! So I guess we won't really be slowing down all that much, but it still seems like a little less.
And Jess - as promised, here's your shout out! 8 more days!! (She's working towards the fall CPA deadline).

And we have a name!

I just wanted to put up a quick post for the 2 people who check the blog! Ha ha (shout out to Anne who actually does check it! Ha).

I use this somewhat as a journal and have every intention of printing and binding it after the baby comes as well as keeping up with our growing family. We'll see how that goes...

I'm not sure if we've made the announcement officially on here yet, but we've picked out a name!! Rhett Colton Tribuzio will be joining our family in December of this year.

As a quick update - Rhett is moving around quite a bit. He's not kicking in the sense that we're having daily martial arts lessons in the tummy, but he's moving around a good bit and I can feel him. It's kind of neat and kind of weird all at the same time. So far, fingers crossed, he sleeps when I sleep or at the very least doesn't wake me up. If only I could say the same for my tiny, overworked bladder! At least I can confidently say I'm doing an excellent job with hydration. There is no way I'm slacking in that department at the rate that I get up in the middle of the night!

My only craving is still for sweets. I've eaten so many of them lately that the thought of eating a cookie right now makes me sweat a little (in a bad way), but as I type that, I really want a coke. This is very strange to me! I can't wait till my sweet tooth goes away...See what I'm doing here? We are just putting it out there that it IS going away so please don't point out to me that it might not as I'm not entertaining that option at all!

Some of our friends and family (actually, all people that I consider both) have offered to throw some showers so of course I am excited for that! I can't believe we have less than 4 months to go, though...the time is starting to make me nervous which I am sure that anyone who knows me could have easily predicted. I'm not very patient and I'm prone to anxiety over things I can't control. This does not mesh well with being a procrastinator... I guess I can deal with that later :)

We don't have any major updates. The doctor's visits are going fine. After the next one (in about 2 weeks), they'll start going to every 2 weeks then eventually to every week. I'm gaining weight pretty much daily it seems. I'm still working out, just not as much as I wished or would like to - but who does? Other than the sweets, I'm still eating the same food - lots of fruits, veggies, meats, etc and few grains if possible.

My energy is still up - I'm just trying to do way too much so I'm as tired as I would be if I weren't pregnant and taking on the world! But I love it, I wouldn't have it any other way and I figure I should push myself now since I'm sure I won't have a ton of time or inclination to do this after Rhett joins us!! Ha!

I haven't been sick in a couple months but am still terrified it can come back - that was no fun! But so far, so good!

My in-laws have their 20th anniversary coming up - congratulations to Mark and Joani!! They're going on a trip to the Mediterranean (a cruise) in 10 days and I'm so jealous! We were supposed to go with them, but plans have changed in that aspect. I'm so happy for them and am glad they get to take a trip to celebrate!

College football is starting up this weekend and we have our UGA flag flying from the front of our house. We are still going to make it to Athens for at least one game and it will be a good one!! I couldn't tell you much about the stats or rivalry, but it's 3 good friends' birthdays and we know I love a birthday as much as FJ loves UGA Football, so it's a great combo.

That's about it...this one is boring! I need to take some more pics and post them, too. I'm also working on starting a scrapbook and realizing that I've been avoiding cameras! ha ha! Whooooopsy!

Happy Birthday to our roommate and good friend, Liz, too! Looking forward to celebrating this weekend! Also looking forward to a day on Yeah, Baby (the Grady's awesome boat) with good friends and Jenny/Jill time. It's going to be a great, long weekend and just what the doctor ordered!!

Congratulations to Kate & Reid Sanders! (or Reid and Kate Dunaway...whichever you like to call them)

Kate and Reid's wedding day finally came!! And went :(

What an awesome wedding weekend! We started on Thursday. I arrived in Augusta around 6:30 and we were off! Kate had everything ready to go and it was fun and celebration from the first second. It was great to spend the weekend with a great friend celebrating. Of course I also love weddings because they bring back terrific memories of our big day, but this was 100% about Kate and everyone came together to make it truly special for Kate and Reid.

I was a little nervous about the dress situation, but luckily my alterterations guy came through and you could barely see the bump at all! Not that I'm not proud, but there was no need for it to be a focal point. And in additional, startling news -- I am able to have an immense amount of fun at a wedding without even so much as a glass of wine!

Congratulations to Kate and Reid Sanders! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

In other exciting news, FJ got to feel the baby kick last night. I've been feeling it for a week or two, but it's very sporadic and not very hard or defined - I can just tell - so I haven't been able to grab FJ to feel it when he does it. FJ and I were laying together on the couch last night watching TV after dinner and he had his hand on my belly and the baby gave him a little nudge!! It was really exciting to see FJ's face as he realized what had just happened and asked "was that him!?!?" I'm so glad FJ got to feel that sooner than later!

We have another wedding this weekend, too! We are headed to Reynolds Plantation (where Carrie Underwood got married a few weeks ago!!) to celebrate with Jenn Davis and Andy Stancil as they tie the knot. Andy is one of FJ's fraternity brothers and very close friends. Over the past 4+ years, I've gotten to be very good friends with Andy, too as well as getting to know Jenn. We're excited for the UGA Chi Phi reunion, the party to follow and of course to celebrate with good friends as they enter make their vows.

Our schedule is of course packed the following several weeks which is how I prefer it. Hopefully this fall we can keep things a little calmer, but I doubt it. For now, I feel great. I have plenty of energy and aside from being larger and wanting cookies 100% of the time, I can hardly tell I'm pregnant. I do feel for FJ because from time to time I realize I am being a little crazy or dramatic or I'm sure his personal favorite - ridiculously controlling. But overall, things are going really well so far!

We had a doctor's appointment last week and all is well! I've gained an appropriate (and undisclosed) amount of weight. I have another appointment in a few weeks and then will start going every other week. This week marks the 23rd week. I'm not sure exactly how that translates to months, but I guess I'm about 5.5 months and over halfway through.

We haven't made any progress with a nursery yet, but we have wrapped up a few other projects around the house and have a few more on our list.

For those who have asked, I am taking about 3 months for maternity leave and plan on returning to work in mid March, but that is always subject to change depending on how everything works out in December. I get to take vacation before my "maternity leave" (which is actually disability, not specifically maternity leave) which is great because I have saved up a few days so I should be able to set a date that will be my last day at work, baby or no baby.

Those are all of my updates for now. I'm going to try to take some more profile pics to keep the site updated, but I would rather post the pics from parties, weddings, etc as they speak much more to our pregnancy and life than pics of me from the side in front of our stairs! :)

It's a BOY!!!!

The cake has finally been cut, the news is out in the open! Baby Tribuzio is now Baby BOY Tribuzio! Nope, we still don't have a name set, but we'll let you know when we do...

First off, thank you so much to Kate Petronis, http://www.andeverythingsweet.blogspot.com/ for helping with the party and providing the cake and candy buffet!! I had so much fun working on this with you!! For those who don't know, Kate and I have been friends for over 10 years. We went to Georgia Southern together (Kate later transferred to Ga Tech, but we still love her) and were not only soririty sisters, but she was my little sister in ZTA. We've stayed friends throughout the years and she has two beautiful little girls, Bailey and Olivia. Kate also has a great talent for all things cake, dessert and party related. I brought Kate the concept of the cake and the reveal party and she definitely helped bring it to life. She also helped create a monster in me! The result was an amazing party and memories that will last a lifetime.

It started with the cake. I knew I wanted to have a party around this cake and that the outside would be ambiguous and the inside would be blue or pink (icing, cake, I didn't care...as long as it was definitely blue or pink). From there, Kate came in! Between the two of us, we created an entire party built around revealing the gender, blue/pink, etc and it was a party very clearly intended for adults! ha ha! Kate made an amazing dessert table with a candy buffet, cake ball suckers and of course the cake. She also added several touches throughout and we built on ideas throughout the planning process. It was so much fun to get a glimpse into her creativity!! I thought I was creative, but I've got nothing on this lady!

Pardon Our Progress - We're EXPANDING!!!

We've had a busy past 3 weeks or so with the 4th of July, Jill's 30th birthday and a low key weekend of running errands and checking things off the to-do list. Sometime during all of that, I started showing!!
Here are a couple of pictures (taken after work, don't judge). You can't tell from the front, but the side is definitely "bumpin!"
One of the errands that I ran last week was to start our registry! Even though I realize we need unisex things in case this baby wants a brother or sister in the future, but being in the store made me really want to know if we are having a boy or a girl!
We find out in two weeks and are soooo excited. Of course I've gone completely overboard in prepping for the big announcement, but at least I have something fun to focus on without driving FJ bananas with my rambling.
Our first month of having a roommate has gone by very smoothly. Liz is a great roommate and so much help to both of us. I'm glad she's with us for this time and I'm really glad she doesn't hate unloading the dishwasher like I do!! Ha ha!
In unrelated news, Big Brother is on for the summer and FJ and I have been addicted since we started dating years ago (wow...years...) so on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings you can find us on our couch glued to our TV's! Better enjoy it while we can, right?
The nausea is mostly gone, I'm sooooo thankful for that!! I was sick every day multiple times a day for about 5 weeks and it just kind of slowed down at some point around 13 or 14. I have much more energy and can be very excited about the baby. My appetite is back in full effect...welcome back appetite!! I missed you! Not wanting to eat what I usually wanted to eat was very inconvenient. I still don't have any crazy cravings and I'll refrain from listing any other symptoms I might be experiencing for now :)
We have so much fun stuff coming up over the next few months and I'm really excited. I'm about to bite the bullet and buy some maternity clothes, so this should be interesting. It's hard not to be able to shop for a wedding or occasion in advance because I have no idea what size I'll be! I did break down and get some workout clothes in maternity sizes (I'm back to Crossfit at least 3 times a week, just modifying some of the workouts).
That's about it for now. I'm going to try to take some pictures regularly for the bump watch!!

Happy Fourth of July!

I'm one of the 4 people in the US that are at work (notice I didn't say working, I said AT WORK) the Friday before the 4th, so I thought I would stick with my theme of the day and do absolutely NO work! This means I get to shop online, play on my iPhone, catch up on personal email -- well so I don't neglect that even on the busiest days-- and update the blog.

I don't have a whole lot of new information. We have our sonogram to determine the sex of the baby on August 5 so we'll have that mystery solved shortly. We're talking more and more about names and narrowing in on a few that we really like!

I've been fortunate enough to realize more and more every day how truly blessed we are with our circle of family and friends. I had a terrible couple of days at work this week. I'm in sales so the end of the month/beginning of the next month is not an easy time and with my partner out on maternity leave (something in the water here), I'm running this ship solo. I got home Wednesday night around 7:30 after an incredibly long last day of the month and all I wanted was Mexican food and my new body pillow. FJ had laid out the mail we had gotten that day. We received two gorgeous wedding invitations for August weddings and there was a big burgandy gift certificate propped up on the counter.

I dug into the wedding invitations as though they were edible and I was...well a pregnant woman. I know all of the details. I've been to the websites, I've talked to the people getting married and asked the questions. I'm even a bridesmaid in one of the weddings. But I still love reading every word of an invitation and taking in the style and nuances, especially since I know how long it takes to pick out and design these things! It didn't occur to me that the gift certificate, which I immediately recognized as Spa Sydell would be for me. I'm not sure whose I thought it was. But FJ nudged me towards it and was so excited. I opened it up and Ollie and Anne, two of our very close friends who are actually tying the knot in April had sent me a gift certificate. It wasn't just a gift certificate, it was an invitation to pamper myself in a stress free environment! I've said it before, but we are so lucky and this baby has no idea what is in store for it with all of his or her aunts and uncles!

We are headed out on Saturday afternoon to visit one of my best friends from college (and since!), Janna and her fiance Michael AKA Travis. They bought a house last year and we haven't been able to go see it yet so I'm really excited to see them, their pups and catbaby and to go to their pool party and to the river with them. It's going to be a lot of fun! I've spent the past 2 4th of July with Janna and Michael so I'm happy to keep it going! I'm finishing off the weekend with another tradition that has nothing to do with the Fourth. I'm going to see the third Twilight movie with Jill who has of course already seen it. She previews them for me so she can give me a heads up on what's coming next since I've never read the books. Much candy and processed nacho cheese will be consumed that evening and I'm prettttttty excited for that!

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and is safe. I promise to have more news or at least more entertaining stories soon!
